Two rounds of poules with 6 or 7 fencers per poule.

100% of fencers will be promoted to a direct elimination tableau. Seeding for the second round of poules will be based on the results of the first round of poules.  Seeding for the tableau will be based on the results of the second round of pouls.  Tableau bouts are to 10 hits.

Direct elimination tableau. Seeding of the tableau will be based on the individual results of three of the team members. Tableau bouts are to 45 hits

Teams will fence for the bronze medal position.

Each country is restricted to one team per event. If there are less than eight teams for an event. The organizing committee may invite each country to enter additional teams up to a maximum of eight teams.

If less than five teams are entered for an event a round robin format will be used instead of a tableau.
